Our Journey
Eduardo Cubillo always knew he wanted to tell stories—not just any stories, but those that, when heard, would stir something deep within the viewer. That is how La Gaveta Producciones was born, a film production company with the purpose of bringing to light what often remains on the margins and deserves to be remembered.
From his first feature-length documentary, “Cubillo: Historia de un Crimen de Estado”, Eduardo has explored narratives with deep historical and social significance. Later, with “Un hogar sin armarios”, he gave voice to the struggles of the LGTBIQ+ community, capturing their history with both sensitivity and impact.
With “Isleños, a Root of America”, he took his vision beyond the Canary Islands, tracing the legacy of Canarian descendants in Louisiana—a story of migration, identity, and memory that bridges the past and the present. In “Lolas”, he delves into the world of Canarian women who have broken barriers in a traditionally conservative society.
But La Gaveta Producciones has never followed just one path. Advertising, documentary filmmaking, and corporate communication have all been part of its journey, working with both small and large brands to tell stories with the same dedication and craftsmanship.
Now, fiction filmmaking becomes the next challenge, opening a new chapter in the search for emotions, characters, and narratives that leave a lasting impression.
We tell stories because we believe in their power to change the way we see the world. And on this journey, there are still many more to tell.
